Did you know that the enemy, the devil, wages war against our children? Yes, our children… at their very young ages. Why? The Bible urges us in Proverb 22:6 (KJV),

“train up a child in the way that they should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

The enemy knows this truth and this is why he attacks our children. His goal is to attack them while they are young in order to steal their destiny and ensure that they do not know God nor walk in the way of the Lord.

This is why the bible reminds us in 1 Peter 5:8 (KJV),

“ Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil walketh about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

The devil is literally looking around, searching, scheming various ways to attack us in our daily lives. Our children are no exception. The enemy attacks their self-worth, their identity, uses their flaws and weaknesses and condemns their mistakes. Many of our children are not equipped for this fight of faith, mainly because we, their parents, guardians, teachers have not engaged them in the wonderful relationship with God.

Furthermore,  in Isaiah 14:13-14 (KJV), states the enemy desires to be like God, the Most High. In his attempt to be like God, the devil is constantly seeking  the attention of our children; in fact he craves it and pursues it daily.  He wants praise and exultation God has; and goes through every and all means of achieving it. In fact, he is so desperate that he settles for our downfall/sinning instead of a true workshop for him.

I say all of this to impart the revelations that our children are not too young for spiritual attacks and therefore not too young for spiritual warfare. There is NO such thing as a mini or junior demon or devil. The devil has no respect for age! Spiritual warfare as is clearly explained in Ephesians 6:12 (KJV), is the wrestling against unseen forces of darkness. I do not know about you, but it is difficult to fight against something and someone that you cannot see with the naked eye. For this sole reason, it is vital that we go to God’s word; His rule book on how to combat the enemy and these unseen robbers.

Ephesians 6:11 (KJV) states,

“put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil”.

We cannot fight the devil on our own. When we try to fight the devil in our own imperfection and powerlessness, we lose every time and our loved ones lose, and many times we lose big.

Some of you may be wondering, how can I teach my child/ren to war in the spirit? The bible has an answer for us.

Isaiah 42:12-13 (KJV)

“Let them give glory unto the Lord, and declare his praise in the islands. The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.”

The Lord wants us to put Him first, to spend time praising and worshiping Him. Commune with Him. Seek Him in all we do. Declare His glory. Only then can we and our children gain victory over the enemy and his devices. We as parents, guardians and teachers have to teach our children how to have a continuous relationship with God -to live righteously, despite our failures.

Our children are not too young for spiritual attacks and therefore not too young for spiritual warfare! Look at what is happening in today’s society, in schools, homes, our nation, our world. Our children are not being spared from the dangers and in humanity that is happening. In fact, they are being lured into every sinful thing on this earth. So why should we as parents give the enemy a foothold into the lives and destinies of our children?
